September 2, 2013

hey mom!

to be honest i think this email may be a very short one haha, my mind really is not all together right now. some stuff happened last night and i just can`t think straight. sorry if they seem to be getting shorter. i`m not a hundred percent sure why, it could be the fact that i`ll be home in less than 2 months so i`ll just be able to tell it all to you then haha, but i`ll try my best to write well :) but i`m glad you all had a good week. i think i could use a yellowstone vacation right now haha. as far as my bank account goes, i don`t have anything there cause i kinda already spent it...haha i just bought a few souvenirs. i did get a little hammock not too long ago, but i`m thinking of looking for a bigger one too maybe. money works that way, and you`re right it`s not worth sending a package, so that`s fine. and pictures work too, karissa is good at sending a picture or 2 every week so that`s fun. the babies already look bigger! and yeah i know one of these days i need to finish my byu stuff, i`m just worried my english is gonna be terrible for the essays haha.

alright, well where to begin? i guess i`ll start with the good news. this week we did divisions with the assistants, and it was super good. well more or less, cause we actually only had time for one lesson cause we had to run assistant errands. i went to the area of the assistants, and one of the most exciting but really illegal things happened. i was thinking about not telling you, but what the heck haha. so we were sitting in traffic trying to get to the lesson, and the assistant, elder hawks from my district in the mtc, said he was tired and didn`t want to drive. and i was like i miss driving. and he was like you wanna drive? and i was like yeah i wish. and he just undid his belt and was like alright come here, i`ll go under, you go over. and so we did it. right there in the middle of the road we switched and i drove for a little haha, sick huh? don`t worry i can still drive well and nothing happened so it`s all good haha. it was fun though. anyway, we had a really good lesson, but then we had to go the temple so that president could talk to a missionary we were with. so we didn`t end up leaving the temple til like 7, so we just had to go to dinner. then a little later someone called us saying that they had just gotten robbed in their house when some guys with guns came in and took all their stuff. quite the exciting day huh? haha but all in all it was good, and it helped me out a ton.

and then on saturday i had to chance to do another thing i`ve never done before. or see i guess. so back when i was in barrio centro there was this less active family where only the mom went and sometimes the kids, but the dad never. one of the little girls was at baptism age so we were working on that as well as trying to activate the family. long story short we baptized their daughter, reacctivated the dad, he got the aaronic priesthood and a calling, and they were super active when i left. then not too long ago during stake conference his name was proposed to get the melchisedec priesthood, so that was awesome too. but then this saturday they went to the temple and got sealed. it was one of the best experiences ever. i didn`t actually get to go in cause i think we got there late, but i talked to them after and they were both just so happy. the wife said she remembered sharing that she always wanted to get sealed to her husband, and finally they were able to do it. he said he just felt like a  new man, and really they were just so happy. it was awesome. it`s awesome to see the fruits of my labors, even 6 months later. it`s things like that that make it all worth it.

but ok, now the bad news. so last night we were eating dinner and we got a call around 9 15 from the assistants. they said that they had just gotten a call from 2 elders in my zone that had gotten in a huge fight and one had threatened to kill the other with a knife. creepy right? so we had to book it over there to try and figure things out, and luckily nothing had happened, but we had to split them up, so i`m with one in my area and my comp is with the other in the other area. it was just not what i was expecting or wanted. i know it`s not my fault but i still feel bad. it sounds like we`re just gonna be like this til the end of the change, and then i don`t know what`s gonna happen. this last change really is just a mystery. there`s rumors they`re gonna join these 2 zones, which would mean they need 2 less zone leaders, which means they could take me out and put me somewhere else or maybe leave me but put me down as just a normal missionary, or a whole list of things. i don`t know, my mind is just like racing right now, i don`t know what`s going on. hopefully we can just have a good week this week.

and i think that more or less sums it up. quite the exciting week. i noticed that my clothes are finally starting to fall apart and not look very good haha, and my one pair of shoes have giant holes in them, but it`s all good :) anyway i hope this week goes well, i hope everyone is happy and doing what they`re supposed to. take care, thanks for everything!

much love,

elder paskett
