September 23, 2013

hey mom!

so yep i stayed, and my new and last companion is elder juarez from el salvador! so yeah they joined the zones together, and i got put as menor, and so my comp is mayor. he has like 7 months in the mission, so it´s definitely something different than what i´m used to. it´s weird not really having any responsibilities, like no one calls me to report things or with some problem or just something. i don´t have to report numbers, and being menor i´m really supposed to just kinda sit back and let my comp drive. i mean we´re a team and we work together, but at the end he´s the one that makes the decision. it´s a little hard cause he´s a little quiet and doesn´t talk too much, but we get along so there´s no problems. i really need to baptize my last change so we´re working hard.

i got a little frustrated with nelson. i think i´ve told you a little about him. he´s just so stuck on knowing everything before just believing. we explain and explain and everything, but he just keeps going back to saying how important knowledge is and stuff. he´s been reading the BOM though and came to church yesterday, so it´s not like he´s not progressing, but it´s been a tough wall to breach. we´re also trying to work with less actives a lot cause attendance has been low. the bishop is new, obispo rodriquez, they put him there only about a month ago, and he has ideas and wants to work, so i think just like with president carmack it´ll take a little time to get into a grove but in the long run i think it´ll be good.

and don´t worry about me getting trunky, cause i really don´t want to leave haha. i mean i miss utah and the fam and everything, but it´s gonna be so dang hard leaving everyone here. obviously it hasn´t hit me yet, but like i know they´re already planning a big party for my birthday/farwell, and it´s just like sad. i don´t want it to end. it´s like i want to just come home for a little bit, say hi to everyone, and then come back haha. it´s early to start thinking about it, but i do want to put the goal to come back. i´m sure everyone says that, like i´m sure trev thought the same thing, but with life and school and work and money and all that stuff it just gets hard. so i mean we´ll see how it goes, but i really would love to. i just love it here too much. it´s like my second home now.

i´m afraid there´s not too much to tell you. and i´m afraid that these next few weeks might be like that haha, partly cause i´ll see you guys soon so i´ll just tell you haha. but just know that i´m good and happy and doing my best to endure to the end. i really do want to finish strong and without any regrets. thanks so much for the advice from everyone, again i never get to everyone´s emails, but i always read them, and especially with the scriptures that get sent, i write them down and study them during the week and put their name next to them. i don´t know if it´s allowed,. but is it ok if i ask for my birthday money sometime soon? :) just cause on the pdays that are coming up i´m gonna go visit some people and probably do some souvenir buying. don´t worry if it´s not a lot, i haven´t thought of too much that i want, probably just a few typical "i went to panama!" things haha. but thanks again, i hope everyone is well and happy and healthy and doing what they´re supposed to. have an awesome week!

much love,

elder paskett
